The PADI Scuba Diver certification is a good warm-up for the Open Water Diver course, but it does have some limitations. For example, you must always dive under the direct supervision of a professional, and you can’t go deeper than 12 metres. This is why it’s most commonly taught in resorts or places that only provide guided dives.
To upgrade PADI Scuba Diver certification to Open Water Diver is a simple process, and will enable you to dive as deep as 18 metres without direct supervision from a professional. Of course, you should always dive with a buddy!
This is what’s needed to upgrade PADI Scuba Diver certification to Open Water Diver.
- Some theory to determine and fill the gaps in your knowledge.
- Some time in the pool to teach you new skills.
- 2 Open Water dives – these can be completed as a shore dive or boat dive.
